Description
Azul traces its origins to the Moors, who introduced the exquisite azulejos—originally white and blue ceramic tiles. The Portuguese fully embraced this art form after King Manuel I visited the Alhambra palace in Southern Spain and was captivated by the intricate beauty of its Moorish tiles. Inspired, he decreed that his own palace in Portugal be adorned with similar tiles. As a tile-laying artist, you are now tasked with decorating the walls of the Royal Palace of Evora.
In Azul, players take turns drafting colored tiles from suppliers to their individual player boards. Points are awarded based on how well players arrange their tiles to embellish the palace. Additional points are earned for creating specific patterns and completing sets, while wasted tiles negatively impact the score. The player with the highest score at the end of the game is declared the winner.
